Barnard Dads Program

Launched in 2016, the Barnard Dads Program invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures to play a role in our school community. The program provides meaningful opportunities for men to serve as positive role models - not only for their own children, but for all Barnard students.
Although the program is called BARNARD DADS, we warmly welcome ALL father figures (grandfathers, uncles, or any supportive make role model).
We're looking forward to another great year with this program and are excited to welcome both returning and new volunteers into the Barnard Dad community. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, reach out to us or Principal Bush.

Heart of the Program
The heart of the program is simple: volunteer for one full school day. On your chosen day, you'll receive a Barnard Dads t-shirt, a detailed information folder (with maps and teacher details), and a personalized schedule. Activities often include:
- Greeting students during morning drop-off
- Assisting in classrooms (including you child's and others across all grades)
- Joining students for lunch
- Playing and supervising on the playground
- Supporting school safety throughout the day
Just one day of volunteering makes a lasting impact. This program shows every Barnard student the importance of strong role models and helps build a culture of community and connection.
Sign-Up Details
There are about 60 volunteer spots available each year, and they fill up quickly. The official sign-up announcement will be shared by email on the evening of September 24. Look for the sign-up email at 8:00 p.m. Volunteer days begin in late October and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year. Families are asked to sign up for one spot per year through the SignUpGenius.
In addition, to school-day volunteering, there will also be opportunities to help with special events like the Big Top Fair, Field Day, and more. Last year we also introduced "Backup Dads" for each grade, which was a HUGE SUCCESS! These volunteers stepped in when the scheduled dad couldn't make it due to illness or emergencies.
